Bruce Lee Quote: Be Water, My Friend

Bruce Lee

For me, this is a famous and well-known quote. However, not everyone spends as much time with martial artists as I do. This came up in conversation today, and my friend hadn’t heard this quote. So, I thought it would be valuable to share.

I think this is particularly relevant today. Our fast-paced, manic, ever-shifting world being fluid and able to adjust is a critical career skill now. Be formless, take the form of wherever life takes you. There’s value in that.

A thought about taekwondo

Bodies in motion
With the power of our minds
Martial arts’ beauty,

I’ve been studying taekwondo for several years. I’ve been a black for s could years know. I love the beauty, the strength, and grace. And,just importantly, I adore the community that is my humble school’s.

Taekwondo video: “Age is no excuse…” on YouTube

It’s awesome to see all ages at the dojang. It’s a sign of a healthy school. My school has a huge range of student agents, from small children to adults in the 50s and 60s.

Every student brings something great to the school, helps us all grow, to be better.

Lessons of a Martial Artist

  • ā€‹There’s more to personal growth than intellectual, book knowledge
  • Training is mental, emotional and physical: encompassing mind, body and spirit
  • Sometimes getting better is learning something new
  • Sometimes it’s refining motion – building precision
  • Sometimes it’s pushing yourself further, expanding strength, flexibility or endurance
  • Sometimes it’s pushing your heart; holding focus through frustration, fear, disappointment – persevering and holding firm, trusting in those who’ve mastered before you
  • There is always something new to learn, more precision to control, more strength to grow, or endurance to cultivate
  • Perfection is an aspiration, a direction, not a destination
  • Always remember: perseverance and continuing to train is the path of mastery.
