A Haiku Tribute To Aretha Franklin

“Aretha Franklin”
I honor her by saying
She’s earned my RESPECT

Aretha Franklin Sang Her Way Through America’s History. Her Passing Is the End of an Era

I Chose To Care

Though many don’t care

And they pride themselves on that

I shall choose caring

I don’t mind the nerdly/Pollyanna label: I care. And I have no intention to change that.

Oh, teriyaki!

Oh teriyaki

Seattle’s taste sensation

Such beautiful food!

The Passage of Heartbeats

Each moment passing

Fading into memory

Waiting on sunlight

In a VW Van

On the edge of sleep

I’m dreaming of road journeys

In a VW van
*pronounce Vee Dub.

A long day done

Though not inspired

Only feeling weariness

Force myself to write

A suburban early morning

Though it’s not yet dawn

The neighbor’s dog is howling

Life in the suburbs

Good Night

The night has come

Motion is now stilling

Dream’s demands coming forth

Wakefulness stills
