#Spring’s remnants
Flutter to the ground
Soon nothing left
Save pale, decaying
Petals

Soaring To Mountaintops…Metaphorically
Upon a mountain
Longing to soar like eagles
Common metaphors
I regularly engage with a Twitter account titled “Baffled“. They post a near-daily Haiku Challenge. Today’s was “any haiku you want as long as it includes ‘mountain'”. Here’s my addition. With a side of snark.

Loneliness
Restful Sunday
Suburban Trials
I’m sitting, monk – like
Reading poets long silent
Chainsaw now raging
Strange Thing, Love
Sunrise Meditation
Laying here
Sun not yet risen
Quietude dominates.
Bushes outside
This window, soon
Bursting with the
Songs from vigorous
Birds. Oblivious
To their beauty.
They hear stories
Loneliness, violence,
Domination, love and death.
Songs that change daily
Yet remain constant.
Quietude vanishes into life.
Happy Wednesday
We’ve reached the middle
Two days before, then after
Apex of the hump
Seattle and heat
Record setting heat
Seatlelites’ discomfort
Easily reached
Our Collective Attention
So vapid a thing
Our collective attention
Oh look! A squirrel
