This Seattle Night, A Haiku

Rainfall’s insistence

Tapping upon my rooftop

This Seattle night

Waking Early To Rain

Rain marching downwards

Gravity’s relentless draw

Early morning thoughts

Hummingbirds, Life, Death

I watch a hummingbird

Do you hear the Oran Mor?

A song in emptiness
So beautiful
Demanding a response
Tones bouncing
Stars flicker forth
Atoms, elements born
Motion, energy,
Life

Between Light and Dark

Between light and dark
Where love and anguish loiter
With snow upon leaves

Finding My Place

My place
Is everywhere
And nowhere
Anywhere the sun
Shines or rain
Descends with
Grace and beauty

Laying in the dark: meditating

I lay in the dark
My eyes feeling drawn downwards
Peace in the silence

Walking Alongside The River

After days of rain
The river’s running quite high
An eagle watching

Evaluating Life

Evaluating
Are actions aligned with goals?
Deliberate change

Doing some personal evaluation right now. Clarifying my goals: what I want to do, what I want my life to mean. Hard, but necessary, especially when I put everything on the table: nothing sacred, all challenged. Ensuring only what is truly enriching remains.

This kind of work is hard. Rewarding, but hard. Hard to look at decisions and paths thinking “is it time to let this go”? But that’s the only way to keep moving forward.
