moving through sunlight
petals glistening from rain

Facing Forward
I adore the simplicity, as well as the challenge of Haiku. The constraints focus my mind, seeking out the essence of the moment, feeling, notion, distilling it to brilliant singularity.

moving through sunlight
petals glistening from rain
crows float overhead

as my footsteps fade
drifting into memories
sunlight on raindrops

through today’s rain
spring and summer soon will fuse
through falling blossoms
I shot this one near my house. The shape and structure of this tree are just lovely, and the ground covered with fallen blossoms seemed a perfect metaphor while spring is supplanted by summer.

a feast for the bees
gently swaying in the breeze
the arc of sunlight

mountains to the west
sunlight upon the water
flowers near the trees

against the darkness
memories of trees echoing
forgotten forests
sunlight on meadows
flowers bouncing in a breeze
some favorite things
I’ve been exhausted the past few days as I’ve recovered from my second dose of the covid vaccine. But I’m feeling pretty darn good today.

feasting on sunlight
brief bits of joyful color
momentary pause
A few days ago I was walking along the nearby waterfront. This burst of color captured my attention, both at the moment and then yesterday, which I spent resting, recovering from my second dose of Moderna. I got a fair amount done in spite of my day of rest, but I didn’t get a haiku posted.

a little arm pain
with a burst of weariness
I listen to birds

after the rainfall
clouds parting for the sunlight
jewels left on the leaves
