This night now ending
Time to calm my random thoughts
And embrace my rest
Another Seattle Area Tech Worker | Pronouns: He/Him
I adore the simplicity, as well as the challenge of Haiku. The constraints focus my mind, seeking out the essence of the moment, feeling, notion, distilling it to brilliant singularity.
This night now ending
Time to calm my random thoughts
And embrace my rest

In this deep darkness
As this day transformed to new
This eerie silence?
A crescent moon
Tinted red by the wind’s
California remnants
“Aretha Franklin”
I honor her by saying
She’s earned my RESPECT
Aretha Franklin Sang Her Way Through America’s History. Her Passing Is the End of an Era
On the edge of sleep
I’m dreaming of road journeys
In a VW van
*pronounce Vee Dub.
Though it’s not yet dawn
The neighbor’s dog is howling
Life in the suburbs
I was going to write
But now I’m falling asleep
Yet I did write this

Oh, the internet!
I made a mistake today
Witnessed ugliness
Yeah, spent too much time this evening reading terrible news stories. Humanity’s ability for brutality stuns me beyond all sensibility.
I’ve found that I need to find the good when faced with this. Go create, seek out beauty and kindness.
So, here I am.

Gazing upon this
Such a cultural symbol
Moments of beauty

My mind grinding forth
So very much to get done
Hey! Don’t lose focus!
