A Cycling Haiku

I move with the wind
Upon these steel wheels
Over asphalt night

I was able to ride this evening. Something I delight to do, though time has been challenging of late. The feeling of drifting over the road has long brought me tranquility and peace. A critical peace of my sanity while, as a young teen, I watched my mother consumed with cancer. Motion soothed my tortured soul.

In seeking a life with purpose

Living with purpose

With effectiveness and joy

A life worth living

Remember that we have the power to pursue joy

Antidote to fear

Focus on the positive

Create your own joy

Resisting Rage’s Allure

I try to resist

Our culture’s lusting for rage

Focusing on light

A Monday Morning Haiku

This new day begins

Filled with opportunity

As the daylight grows

The Flower’s Voice

As summer begins

Plenty of sunshine and warmth

A flower’s voice heard

Awake Too Early

My relentless mind

<

p style=”font-family:"”>In perpetual motion

<

p style=”font-family:"”>Sleeping’s a challenge

<

p style=”font-family:"”>Awake against my will

<

p style=”font-family:"”>Dreaming of dreaming

<

p style=”font-family:"”>Longing for slumber

<

p style=”font-family:"”>The machinery of my mind

<

p style=”font-family:"”>Psychological cogs churn and spin

<

p style=”font-family:"”>Whirring hum of my soul

The Night Moves Now

The night moving now

It slides up, embracing me

A piano plays

They grow up so fast

My phone buzzes

<

p style=”font-family:"”>A beautiful woman

<

p style=”font-family:"”>Who I remember

<

p style=”font-family:"”>In diapers

<

p style=”font-family:"”>I feel joy

<

p style=”font-family:"”>At the blessing

<

p style=”font-family:"”>Of my simple

<

p style=”font-family:"”>Witness

A Flower After The Rain

As the rain had passed

This flower’s glory shines forth

And then the light shifts
