Flowers on a Breezy Day

sunlight on meadows
flowers bouncing in a breeze
some favorite things

I’ve been exhausted the past few days as I’ve recovered from my second dose of the covid vaccine. But I’m feeling pretty darn good today.

A Momentary Pause

feasting on sunlight
brief bits of joyful color
momentary pause

A few days ago I was walking along the nearby waterfront. This burst of color captured my attention, both at the moment and then yesterday, which I spent resting, recovering from my second dose of Moderna. I got a fair amount done in spite of my day of rest, but I didn’t get a haiku posted.

I Love The Sound Of The Wind In The Trees

wind blows through these trees
memories awakening
tranquility’s song

I’ve always loved the sound of the wind in the trees. In western Washington, it’s a common sound, speaking to me of home.

A Walk in the Woods

Through The Woods

passing under trees
the path dry from the spring sun
with the bold birdsong

My Response to Today’s Word of the Day Challenge: Fresh

suburban wanders
as fresh cut grass’ scent dances
memories awake

Today’s Word of the Day Challenge features “fresh”. As it’s spring here in the suburbs of Seattle, and I’m listening to a mower’s drone, this flowed from my keyboard.

Earthbound Blossoms

Earth bound blossoms

petals scattering
memories of fading spring
summer whispers “soon”

Watching the trees shed their blossoms’ petals is both beautiful and sad. Summer comes on the death of spring.

Mists flowing the trees

mists flowing through trees

moisture upon the petals

dreaming of the sun

Kissed by Sunlight

Rhododendron bloom

kissed by the sunlight
dancing upon the spring breeze
the arc of petals
