Fearlessness

Fearlessness,
So hard to embrace.
Fear serves us well.
Protection from malice.
Yet, this protective weave
Eventually stifles growth.

We prattle on
About not letting fear
Control our lives.
And yet, so often, it
Does. Aversion to risk
Really the highest calling?

I seek freedom from
Fears. From that strangulated
Grasp, embracing what may
Come,  trusting in both
My ability to hold the joy
And that good will come.

The Illusion of Distance

Distance sometimes
Seeks to play tricks
Upon our hearts.
The torment of
Separation a magnificent
Illusion. Love connects
Deeper than space/time.
We are no farther apart
Than our dreams.

Fearful Spaces

I am not afraid
Of the abyss.

This dark, hollow space,
Deep within.

Inside my soul,
Body, staring into murky depths
Hidden from sight.

Walls grown around it,
Status quo.

My Writing’s Evolution

Noticing my poetry’s evolution. Once, my focus was flowing words, rich in descriptors, often verbose. Now, now I so often seek brevity. Driving to strip distraction, superfluous text, longing to grasp the core meaning, what lurks at the deepest recesses. Often I fail, but that hardly dissuades me. Much like Thoreau’s failure to attain the rich independence alongside the pond, failure is no shame. To stretch, dream, depart from the norm and traditional, daring something new; the results never match the dream. Its always so much richer.

Grasping hold of dreams, daring to work them real, that’s my newest focus. Seek out the new, the never-done daring deeds of the heart. To live fully engulfed within a creative vortex, fearlessly facing the winds, that is what I seek to build now.

My poetry is the focus of another site:

I’ll endeavor to post daily. Challenging, pushing myself forward, beyond the limits of fear.

Such is my dream.

Dust Swirling Inwards

Strange, really,
Mind’s drifting,
Perhaps raging,
Flickering memory
Upon memory,
Stirring dust
From forgotten
Dreams.

Into and Through

I collapse
Into and through
Myself, these dreams
Both from my mind
And the synaptic demands
Of others.
Mist fades
Upon the other side
Where I find
Myself.
