Along the Water

Along the water: a haiku

along the water
under the sun, between trains
beside calm waters

I just finished up winter quarter, so I was able to spend the day as I wished. Today’s the projected last day of sun for a while, so I opted for a waterside walk today. Edmonds is one of my favorite places, so off I went.

Spring Approaches

underneath the sun
my soul lifted by it’s grace
as spring approaches

Took this photo on a recent walk. It’s been quite lovely the past few days here in Seattle. Though we still have a few days until spring officially begins, it’s presence is felt. And I’ve seen other signs of spring: trees, especially cherry trees, are starting to blossom. Winter’s grip, around here at least, seems to have weakened, perhaps even released. We can hope, at least.

Dancing with Sunlight

dancing with sunlight

moving across western skies

the motion of spring

Underneath Sunlight

underneath sunlight
springtime’s grace flows through the firs
still need my jacket

Today’s sunlight was very welcome. I’ve been fighting some kind of “bug” since Tuesday night. The worst was Wednesday, but I’m still lacking energy. I was able to get a walk in this after, and get plenty of school stuff done, but I’m now wiped out. I expect to be near 100% by tomorrow, though.

Winter’s Motion

this winter’s motion
sunlight climbing through the sky
crocuses blooming

Through the Rainfall

through the rainfall
as it changes to snow
the birds now confused

Found this blossom during my walk the other day. More signs that spring is almost here. Yet today we had rain, wind, snow and hail. It was quite a day, weather – wise.

Newness

winter’s grip loosening
with the clouds drifting eastward
wonder of birdsong

Surprised By Sunlight

Afternoon Sunlight

surprised by sunlight
after so much morning rain
this lightness of being

Winter Berries

Elderberries

winter bares food, too
and the birds know where to seek
so life continues

Found these berries on a recent walk. Summer, of course, bursts with live giving foods for all. Winter, it seems, is more stealthy. But food is present!

Blessings of the Pines
