June 4, 2020: Reflexes of Pain

human reflexes

to inflict pain upon those

we believe hurt us

A cycle of destruction that threatens to consume us all.

We love to quarrel so

We love to quarrel

Satisfied with petty spite

Yet the sun will rise

Counteracting the rage: a haiku

Fear births rage

So easily exploited

Instead, speak of hope

Countering rage with rage isn’t creatuve, isn’t beautiful. We only become more divided, leaving more scorched earth, more broken. We must remember community has value, too.

Youthful Memories: A Free Verse Meditation

Youthful memories

Comic books
Toy ray-guns
Sunlit days

Free of shoes
Sand covered toes

Burning echoes
Of the first-girl-I-loved’s
Bemusement
And resultant mockery

I wonder
Why suffering
Delights us so?
Such cruelty divides us
A charred gulf bearing
Smoldering rubble
Remnants of hope

So many memories of this journey called life. Painful ones sometimes rise up, reminding me of their place in my mind, my psyche. Hints of underlying angers and frustrations, damage done.

Invective

I’ve grown quite weary

All the invective tiring

It’s all lost on me

The Poison Of Anger

Anger within hearts

Poison flowing so deeply

Roots reaching your stone

Comfortable with Rage

Comfortable with rage
Reflexive feeling for us
Destruction’s fast lane

Patience in Anger

image

Patience in anger,
This discipline of the mind
Saves one regret’s pain

Escape

Let go of anger
Escape pride and envy’s grasp
Such is peace’s path

Echoes of Anger

Fearful of ancient rage
Rattling dusty cadavers
Forgotten dreams
Hidden within
Away from the glare
Of expectation
