Children’s Laughter

This sound
Laughing children
Always a delightful way
To awaken

The big lives of small children

Awakened by

A Child’s Funeral

Nothing is sadder
Than a child’s funeral
Winter’s emptiness

It’s been several months since we buried my friend’s son. It was a wretched, painful day. I never want to feel that way again. Sadly, the odds are against me.

This Monday

Summer’s heat is here

Children nearly done with school

Silent, save for crows

Yesterday’s Party

A child-filled yard
Chaos of unbridled joy
Delight fills the air

At the beach

A girl at the beach
Carrying a water bucket
Flicking water from
Her fingers
A baptism

Focus On Gratitude

I’m grateful for these:

Joyous children around me

Love’s capacity
