This Age of Rage: A Haiku

In this age of rage

Where invective flows freely

Seek this voice of grace

A haiku about seasons, change and a tad bit about love

This flower’s beauty

Transformative and quite brief

New life comes through change

This world burns with negative energy. Fear, distrust and rage so very of this world. I seek yo mollify that. I wonder if, perhaps, through poems and a bit of compassion, maybe I can help humanity grow its connection to itself. I see that as out species’ path to survival.

May each of you always find beauty and joy in life.

Sunlight Rising

A moth fluttering
Upon the grass stalks
The rising sunlight

Exploring Home

I seek out beauty
The glories of Washington
My ancestors speak

Poetry’s Power

Once I was told
Poetry’s power
Comes from framing
Life so uniquely
That people see
Truths they’re hiding from

Experimenting with using the graphic to separate my prose from the poem.  What do you think?

Standing Atop A Mountain: A Haiku

Standing in the wind
Atop a barren mountain
Alone with my dreams

A Moral Compass

Easy to get lost
Gazing into the future
If the compass lost

Walking Through A Suburban Evening

20170914_2019081611483105

I walked under street lights
The cooler air brings darkness earlier
Looking up, between
Orangey/Yellow globes
Through the furry firs
Upwards amidst these
Bright blue and white ghosts
Of my childhood
Where I would
Drift through the cosmos
