Tonight’s Haiku: April 27, 2025

wonders of springtime
flowers within the sunlight
birdsong fills the air

Tonight’s Haiku: April 24, 2025

with hints of purple
flowers changing through the spring
new wonders each day

Tonight’s Haiku

sunlight descending
brightening western mountains
quiet witnesses

Starting the day

awakened by self-doubt

criticizing all I've done

so I face within

resisting these words

embracing all that I am

keep moving forward

Tonight’s Haiku

every bouquet
begins with a single stem
blessings of springtime

This morning I went for a walk in Edmonds, one of my favorite things to do. I came across these daffodils, then came up with this haiku later.

Daily haiku: February 9, 2025

a few hints of snow
guarded by the bitter cold
graced by the starlight

Tonight’s Haiku: February 7, 2025

in the winter's sky
mountains rising through the wind
beyond bitter cold

“Freedom” by Langston Hughes

Langston Hughes

My fellow blogger, Michele Lee, posted this classic poem by Langston Hughes. A very powerful one, and one that’s relevance is still strong.

Freedom
by Langston Hughes

Freedom will not come
Today, this year
            Nor ever
Through compromise and fear.

Head over to her blog to read the rest. It’s well worth your time.

Tonight’s Haiku: January 31, 2025

this winter rainfall
gently upon the rooftop
silence of the night

Today’s Haiku: January 26, 2025

sunlight in the cold
bitter frost upon the grass
the grace of my coat

It’s been a cold couple of days here on the PNW. Looks like it’s been quite cold (brutal?) throughout a lot of the US. I’ve had the additional annoyance of fighting a nasty and belligerent cold. The remaining symptom: coughing. I’ve had to reschedule one dentist appointment, and that looks like it’ll become two. Sigh…

I hope 2025 has been kinder to you.
