Happy Halloween, Everyone!

jack skelington vinyl figure

Years ago, I got exhausted by all the Halloween tropes, especially Monster Mash. I figured, “I’m sure I could create something better”. I think I have.

This is a multi-year initiative. I’ve added to it as I’ve found good tunes, and taken off ones that no longer fit my vibe.

So, I hope you enjoy!

An evening haiku

memories of dusk
treetops hidden by the night
silent memories

Starting the day

awakened by self-doubt

criticizing all I've done

so I face within

resisting these words

embracing all that I am

keep moving forward

Today’s Haiku

haiku text:
clouds dancing, moving to the north, healing spring rains.

This is a photo I took a few weeks ago on my Google Pixel, and the post below (Instagram) inspired me to write something today:

(third photo on the carousel)

It’s funny to me how I feel compelled to justify my work, my writing, photography, poetry. Really, I’m supposed to monetize EVERYTHING! If it’s not generating income, or promoting my business, then I shouldn’t do it. However, I know, in my heart, that I need to create stuff.

I feel compelled to post daily, but I’m hamstrung by the needs above, as well as the larger issues of imposter syndrome and all that.

So, I took the photo above and added the haiku in Canva. I do enjoy that, but I think I need to explore other tools besides Canva. Heck, maybe I need to start doing these in Photoshop again. Get those skills back up.

Today’s Haiku, 9-25-2024

the abyss’ edge
I finally stare within
seeing myself stare back

Today’s Haiku

the rain grows warmer
slowly the plants awaken
the season's motion

I saw this little blossom on my walk today. Right before the rains started. It’s was cold,  then damp. But I was equipped,  so it was pleasant. Not a bad way to surrender a Sunday afternoon.
