Within the Morning Rain

I lay within the morning quiet
My mind drifts to memories
As rain’s drumbeat calms.
A strange, irrythmic sound
Unexpected gaps of silence
Cool air chills my fingers

This morning’s calmness

This morning’s calmness

My soul echoes in raindrops

In the puddle, sky

Waking to Rainfall

Waking to rainfall
Bringing forth feelings of “home”
My soul echoing
With memories of drops
Gently rattling
Roofs and windows
When I, wrapped
Securely in blankets;
This world’s savagery
Still a mystery

A Rainy Seattle Friday: Haiku Challenge

Rain is now falling

A #Seattle element

All things grow from there
The “word of the day” was “element”

Awoke to rains rage
Where I’d resist the outdoors
I’m safe on my couch

I’m a product of Seattle. So much time in the rain, it defines me. I remember a moment, so many years ago, sitting in my apartment, looking out over Seattle with coffee and a good book. With nowhere I needed to go, nor be, I sat in the window bay watching the rain splatter upon the glass, gravity writing it’s magic.

Seattle’s Rain Arrived

Raindrops tap windows

Gusts rattling the dried leaves

Autumnal cold rain

The predicted reasons have come. Trees bend in the breeze, leaves drift across my drive. Summer’s memory flutters within the dried, damp leaves.

Seattle’s Rain Returns

Though late

I am not sleepy

I sit here, listening

Rain falls upon my roof

Forever, it seems,

I’ve loved that sound

Walking In Seattle

Those evenings at dusk
Fashionable, Seattle style
Nights in my city

Seattle’s Rain Has Returned

Rain has returned
It feels more like Seattle
The one of my memory

So much of my life has been spent in the presence of Seattle’s rain. Though it chills my skin, it warms my heart.
