The night speaks to me: A HaikuĀ

The night speaks to me
It’s sound echoes through silence
Passing through damp leaves

So, I’m Awake

Yeah, well, I’m awake
Against my better judgement
Sleep’s power is strong

Alarm Clocks: A Haiku

Just ten minutes more

As the clock keeps beckoning

The demands of life

A Haiku About Cold MedsĀ

Cold meds bring me gifts

Drowsiness which slows me down

So hard to wake up

Awakened, now returning to sleep

Awakened briefly
Activity around me
Now, again, silence

Awoke by my racing mind

Resisting waking
My chaotic mind distorts
Damaging my rest

My mind gets going, laden with fear and energy, heat building up in my scalp as the unfocused fears run unburdened by logic or balance. Unreasonable and irrational, disrupting my rest and my day.

Children’s Laughter

This sound
Laughing children
Always a delightful way
To awaken

Groan…It’s Morning

Feeling exhausted

Just not sleeping very well

And I don’t know why

Seduced by the Snooze Bar

Snooze bar seduction

<

p style=”font-family:"”>Rather, contentment

This Long NightĀ

Weariness drags me
I’ve been awake far too long
Dreams are beckoning
