most leaves are still green
brown leaves covering the road
until the breeze comes
simmering notions
hints of memories echo
beyond dreams edges
a song echoing
from quite deep within my soul
words upon the rain
oh, the nearby woods
echoes of my childhood
hide within these firs
dawn’s light comes lower
gently through western trees
fewer birds singing
as the sunlight falls
still making its way through trees
while the geese pass by
clouds drifting away
sunshine joyfully bursts forth
ground damp from the rain
blanket of grey sky
above the reddening leaves
with the cooling air
the first autumn rain
coolly tapping my rain coat
as the geese fly past
