Love this autumn day
Which has crested into night
Now rest, finally

November’s Theme: Gratitude

<

p style=”font-family:"”>It is November

<

p style=”font-family:"”>We focus on gratitude

<

p style=”font-family:"”>Growing our soul’s grace

<

p style=”font-family:"”>Seems appropriate, the month of Thanksgiving, to focus on gratitude. Today’s haiku sets the stage, reminding us of the value of gratitude,  of connection, of interdependence.

A Wind Transformed: A Haiku

Wind’s movement graceful

The earlier fortitude

Now a gentle song

A Poet’s Response To “Houston Dad Handles Bully Beautifully”

This haiku came to me after reading “Houston Dad Handles Bully Beautifully“.

When facing evil

Focusing fully on grace

Always seek to grow

Grace can accomplish many great things, as it requires courage to step forward in such a way.

Siouxsie and the Banshees: A Haiku

I hear Siouxsie Sioux
Burning ash and destruction
Cities in the dust

The music of the 80s speaks to me. So many memories, pain and joy, anguish and exaltation.

We love to quarrel so

We love to quarrel

Satisfied with petty spite

Yet the sun will rise

We Quibble And Quarrel, Ignoring The Fire Around Us

I’m surrounded by dissention, anger and invective. It makes me want to scream.

There are so many critical discussions, history making decisions that we need to make as a society and as a species.

Why do we seek out, aggressively, so many petty things with which to bicker and squabble over? I watch, time and time again, people waste monumental energy over the minor and leave the critical ignored.

Perhaps it’s easier, and less frightening, to engage with the petty than with the important. It’s also useless.

Seeking Growth

With deepest rigor

I am always seeking growth

Autumn leaves still fall

Autocorrected Annoyances
