Nice Weather For Ducks: Today’s Musical Interlude

Weather for October 4, 2020
It’s looking like rain

Looking like it will be a damp and dreary day. A lovely day for ducks, methinks. Which often makes me think of this song by the British electro-pop duo, Lemon Jelly.

I do find the song delightfully charming. I’m deeply grateful to John Richards at KEXP for introducing me to this song, along with so many other great ones.

Early Morning Haze

Early morning haze

Sunlight hampered by the smoke

Disrupting autumn

Another smoky, hazy day here in Seattle. The air quality is expected to be slightly better than yesterday. It should continue to get better as the week progresses. I look forward to breathable air.

Thunder in the Morning : A Haiku

rolling with the rain

there’s thunder in Seattle

the crows now silent

I wasn’t expecting thunder and lightening this morning. That’s rather atypical for Seattle. It brings back many memories for me, though. Life in the tropics had many joys.

Seattle’s Smokestorm: A Haiku

This summer’s fires

I’ve grown weary of the bad air

Longing for autumn

It’s been a challenging summer for us Seattleites. Especially though with any kind of respiratory issues. Really looking forward to the relief autumn is promising.

Sun Stretched Upon The Cold Wind

The sun stretches me
Solar motion elongates
Sun in brutal cold

Walking along the Edmonds Waterfront. With the strong wind from the north, the air was brisk, cold. Bright and sunny later in the day, which made our mid-afternoon walk much more pleasant.

A first thought this early morn

A gentle breeze blows

Branches scrape against my house

This brusque goose-like cry

Startles me abruptly

This brusque goose-like cry

Autumn’s Approaching

One more day of light
Soon, autumn’s fury descends
The callous winter

This morning’s haiku

The summertime heat

This morning’s air brings relief

With a chance of rain
